The Poway Arts and Crafts Guild has expanded its Artisan Market to every Saturday at Old Poway Park through Dec. 19.
The market runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. around the boardwalk near The Hamburger Factory at 14122 Midland Road, where artisans sell handmade goods directly to shoppers. A portion of booth fees goes to the guild's Jenna Parke and Voletta Hervy Donation Fund, which provides art supplies for middle and high school teachers in the Poway Unified School District.
Last year, the fund sent 13 checks totaling about $4,000 to teachers across the district, PACG President Ray Eaton told the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The nonprofit guild, based at 14134 Midland Road, has several fall events beyond the weekly market.
Several guild artists will lead woodcraft and silhouette activities at Rendezvous in Poway, a two-day living-history event hosted by the Old Poway Park Action Committee on Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4. About 660 fourth-grade students are expected to pan for gold, visit encampments and create projects with wood and pottery, Eaton told the Union-Tribune.
The event brings the late 1800s to life.
PACG Vice President Jessica Johnson is among the artisans whose work visitors can find at the Saturday market. The guild will also set up informational tables at the Poway Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 17.
"We will not be selling products at the Farmers Market, just showing the craftsmanship of our artists," Eaton told the Union-Tribune. Visitors interested in buying will be directed to the Artisan Market.
The guild is also planning a Christmas art installation near the Old Poway Park fountain in early December, showcasing the work of four guild artists at the suggestion of the Old Poway Park Action Committee.
