San Rafael Catholic Church's Knights of Columbus council is throwing an Oktoberfest dinner and raffle Friday, Oct. 16, at the parish hall in Rancho Bernardo.

The "Evening in Bavaria" fundraiser runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at San Rafael Parish Hall, 17252 Bernardo Center Drive, as first reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune. The Knights of Columbus Valley of Angels Council, the parish's local chapter, organizes the annual family-friendly event.

Tickets are sold at the door: $25 for adults 19 and older, $10 for youths ages 6 to 18 and free for children 5 and under.

The German-themed menu features bratwursts, sauerkraut, German potato salad, pretzels and strudel with ice cream. Hot dogs are available for kids. Oktoberfest beer, wine and sodas will be sold separately.

Entertainment includes face painting and balloon art by Miss Toby the Clown for children, plus a live set from "The Original German Band."

The raffle's grand prize is a four-night Palm Desert vacation for four guests. Paul Thoreson, a member of the Knights of Columbus council, told the Union-Tribune the drawing includes more than 20 prizes, among them gift certificates to The Cheesecake Factory, Black Angus, The Brigantine, Baron's Market, BJ's Brew House, The Kebab Shop and Luna Grill, along with passes to the USS Midway Museum and the San Diego Natural History Museum.

"All net proceeds will assist the Knights of Columbus Council charities," Thoreson told the Union-Tribune.

In previous years, those charities have included support for seminarians, mission work, assistance for people with intellectual disabilities, college scholarships for parish high school seniors and a fund the pastor uses to help those in need.
